11 Ways To Tell If You’re A “Germaphobe” Mom

Nobody likes germs or wants to be around someone when they are coughing up a lung or not able to keep down anything but what about the day to day germs?

Here is a checklist to see where you fall:

  1. Do you wipe down the shopping cart handle or do you wipe the entire surface of the cart?
  2. Do you carry hand sanitizer with you always and pass it around to everyone in the car when you leave church?
  3. Do you cringe at the thought of all the kids that have put their little hands in the chip bag before you at the potluck?
  4. Do you share your drinks with your kids?
  5. When in a public bathroom do you wash your hands & then dry your hands with the paper towel and THEN shut off the water facet with the paper towel?
  6. Do you use the aforementioned paper towel (or your shirt) to open the door of the public restroom when leaving?
  7. Do you have paper towels in your bathrooms at home instead of a cloth hand towel?
  8. Do you let your kids eat cookie dough or cake batter with raw egg?
  9. Do you use a paper towel to pick up meat at the grocery store?
  10. Do you carry your own pen so that you don’t have to use the pen that everyone else has used since the last flu season?
  11. Have you ever inquired at Chuck E Cheese’s how often they clean the tokens? Oh, yes I have! lol Just so you know…they DON’T clean them, EVER! But that’s ok because I have hand sanitizer!

I must admit that I am guilty of every one of these things. SMH! Not sure how I could still be such a germaphobe with so many kids. I remember that as a kid, my brother Mark, would lick all the cookies or cupcakes in front of me because he knew I wouldn’t eat them and he would get them all to himself. I guess once a germaphobe always a germaphobe.

What quirky “germaphobe” things do you do or does your spouse do that drives you crazy?
